Since first joining DHS in 2007, Ms. Farkus served in several key positions including DHS Acting Assistant Secretary for International Affairs as well as Assistant Administrator for the Office of Global Strategies and Assistant Administrator for the Office of Intelligence at TSA. During her time as the DHS Acting Assistant Secretary, Ms. Farkus ensured that strategic international relationships stayed on track during the early stages of the presidential transition, a critical time for those partnerships. While leading the Office of Global Strategies, she worked proactively with international partners and those involved in securing overseas transportation operations to influence global security standards and enforce regulations throughout the global transportation network. As Assistant Administrator for the Office of Intelligence, Ms. Farkus served as TSA’s Chief Intelligence Officer, overseeing day-to-day intelligence activities, providing key insights to directly influence TSA operations around the globe.
Ms. Farkus was initially assigned to NSA as a Russian linguist/analyst while serving in the United States Air Force. During her civilian career at NSA, she served as the Chief of Staff, NSA/CSS Texas in San Antonio; Executive Assistant to NSA/CSS Director, General Michael V. Hayden; Special U.S. Liaison Officer in Ottawa, Canada; and Assistant Deputy Director for Analysis and Production. Her diverse assignments have provided her with extensive experience in guiding and directing the establishment of new organizations, intelligence analysis and the production cycle, intelligence support to military operations, crisis management, information sharing, international relations, and cyber security. Ms. Farkus is a recipient of the Meritorious Presidential Executive Rank Award and two Meritorious Civilian Awards.

Ms. Farkus resides in the Washington D.C. area, and she is a graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and certificates in Accounting and Finance. She has completed leadership and change management courses with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Kellogg School of Management, and Center for Creative Leadership.
