Bloomberg Law published an opinion piece by Michael Chertoff, discussing the risks associated with Artificial Intelligence. Secretary Chertoff penned the piece in his capacity as a member of the American Bar Association Artificial Intelligence (AI) Task Force.
While AI promises to transform almost every sector and holds great promise, it can also pose significant risk. It is critical for individuals and companies relying on AI to develop guardrails to manage the technology.
Secretary Chertoff promotes a three-pronged approach to address AI risks including data, disclosure, and decision-making. For data, the focus should include both accuracy and securing the legal right to use the data. Text or video content developed by AI should disclose that fact and authentication methods for video and photographs are needed. Decisions that impact people should never be left only to AI. A human should always have the final decision.
