Bob Rose

Bob Rose is an internationally recognized cybersecurity expert and Senior Advisor at The Chertoff Group, where he provides strategic counsel at the critical intersection of technology, national security, law enforcement and privacy. He advises both the U.S. government and private sector companies on the full spectrum of cyber-related challenges.

Rose’s numerous prior high-level U.S. government advisory positions spanning multiple presidential administrations include serving as a Special Government Employee on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Advisory Council (2015 – 2021). During his tenure, he chaired the Information and Communication Risk Reduction Subcommittee, co-chaired the Emerging Technologies Subcommittee and co-chaired the State, Local, Tribal & Territorial Cybersecurity Subcommittee.

Additionally, Rose served on the U.S. Department of State’s International Security Advisory Board (2012 to 2018). His further government service includes appointments to the National Security Agency’s Cyber Awareness and Response Panel (2009-2016), the National Counterterrorism Center Director’s Advisory Board (2012-2014), the Office of the Director of National Intelligence Financial Sector Advisory Board (2013-2015), and as an Advisor to the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (2013-2014).

In addition to his role with The Chertoff Group, Rose’s current corporate engagements include serving as Chairman of the Strategic Advisory Boards of Primary, DataBahn, 1Kosmos, and Securonix.

Rose’s prior corporate engagements include serving a Senior Advisor to Ray Dalio, Founder and Chairman at Bridgewater Associates (2014 -2015), serving as Executive Vice President, Global Head of Strategic Planning and Business Development, Financial & Risk at Thomson Reuters (2009 – 2014), serving as Managing Director, Global Head of Sales & Marketing, PricingDirect and Financial Analytics & Structured Transaction (FAST) group at JPMorgan Chase (2008 – 2009) and serving as Managing Director, Global Head of Sales & Marketing, PricingDirect and Financial Analytics & Structured Transaction (FAST) group (1995 – 2008).

Notably, his contributions have earned prestigious honors, including a presidential appointment to the J. William Fulbright Board of Foreign Scholarship, a fellowship with the Wexner Heritage Foundation, the U.S. Secret Service’s “Outstanding Dedication and Contributions” award and the Connecticut Yankee Council of the Boy Scouts Distinguished Citizen Award. In 1995, Rose was among the founding members of the U.S. Secret Service’s Electronic Crime Task Force (ECFT) in New York, pioneering early efforts to combat cybercrime.

Educational appointments include the McCrary Institute for Cyber & Critical Infrastructure Security at Auburn University, the Homeland Security Experts Group Steering Committee, the State of Florida Center for Cybersecurity, the George Washington University Center for Cyber and Homeland Security, where he played a pivotal role in its 2012 establishment.
