Jim Williams

Jim Williams is a federal acquisitions expert, with more than 18 years in the Federal Senior Executive Service, leading major programs and acquisitions. At Chertoff Group, he assists with developing growth strategies and delivering large tactical wins.

Williams served as Acting Administrator of the General Services Administration (GSA) and the first GSA Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner. He was the first director of DHS’s US-VISIT, a DHS program to track the entry of foreign visitors with biometrics after 9/11.

Earlier, Williams led the IRS Procurement organization and program management for the then-troubled IRS modernization program. He served on the original four-member procurement team for Vice President Al Gore’s 1993 Reinventing Government Program where recommended an emphasis on “best value” in federal procurement.

As part of his ethic to give back to the government community, Williams has served as co-chair for the Partnership for Public Service’s Strategic Advisors to Government Executives (SAGE), industry chair for the American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC), and strategic advisor to the Government Services and Technology Coalition.

Williams earned an MBA from The George Washington University and a B.S. in Business Administration and Management from the Virginia Commonwealth University.
