Brook Shafer of News Nation covers a new report from the U.K. that shows artificial intelligence can steal passwords with 95% accuracy just by listening to keystrokes.
Last week, tech leaders and senators met behind closed doors to discuss the risks of AI. Congress and the White House have been pressing tech companies to create safeguards for the technology. Currently there are no federal guidelines in place governing AI, however, several states have enacted or are considering legislation. Former U.S. Senator Rob Portman, who established the AI caucus in the Senate, lays out the case for AI policy in a July article in The Hill.
The Chertoff Group recently published a white paper on AI risks for business leaders. In the News Nation interview, Michael Chertoff articulates several vexing concerns about the technology.
“I think having these (safety) principles in place, for example with respect to deepfakes or otherwise altered or doctored videos, it’s wise to get those requirements in place now rather than to wait until there’s some real problem that comes up,” said former U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff.
