WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Chertoff Group, a global security advisory firm that provides strategic consulting, security risk management and merger and acquisition (M&A) advisory services, is pleased to announce their participation in a new book, Navigating the Digital Age: The Definitive Cybersecurity Guide for Directors and Officers. Led by Palo Alto Networks (NYSE: PANW), the next generation security company, and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE: ICE), this book will provide boards, executives and officers at enterprises, government agencies and other organizations with practical, expert advice on how to best protect their businesses from cyberattacks.
The Chertoff Group contributed two chapters to this anthology. Co-authored by Michael Chertoff, Executive Chairman of The Chertoff Group and Former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and Jim Pflaging, Principal and head of The Chertoff Group’s Business Strategy practice area, “The Three T’s of the Cyber Economy” examines the dynamic challenges of today’s golden age of innovation, driven by newtechnology, an evolving threat landscape, and consumers’ lack of willingness to trust their privacy is protected. “The Internet of Things,” authored by Mark Weatherford, a Senior Advisor at The Chertoff Group, offers insight into why corporate executives should pause to consider the security and privacy implications of IoT devices as it will continue to impact their business decisions for the foreseeable future.
Collecting the expertise and experience of CEOs, CISOs, lawyers, forensic experts, consultants, academia, and current and former government officials, this anthology is intended for those new to the cybersecurity topic, as well as seasoned leaders in the field. It contains practical and expert advice on a range of cybersecurity issues, including compliance and breach avoidance, prevention and response.
“With rapid advances in technology, we’ve seen entire industries reinvented due in large part to the power of the Internet and related innovations. These technology advances not only breed new opportunity, but new risk as well,” said Jim Pflaging. “The Chertoff Group recognizes the need for corporate executives and boardrooms to create a strategy to address cyber as a top business risk. This book, with a diversity of participants and perspectives, will be a resourceful guide in doing so.”
There are more than 35 contributors to the book, including Adam Sodowick, President, NYSE Governance Services; Charlie Scharf, CEO of VISA; and Mark McLaughlin, CEO of Palo Alto Networks. Additional organizations that provided insights for the book include the World Economic Forum, the U.S. Department of Justice, the Georgia Institute of Technology, Wells Fargo, Booz Allen Hamilton and Baker & McKenzie.
