Fred Midgette is a Senior Adviser to The Chertoff Group, and brings extensive expertise in domestic and international maritime issues, with particular focus in the Pacific, the Polar regions, and Oceania.

Prior to joining The Chertoff Group, Midgette served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 36 years retiring as a Vice Admiral. Notable assignments include: Pacific Area Commander; Deputy Commandant for Operations; Regional Commander of the Great Lakes; and Military Adviser to the Secretary of Homeland Security. He also served with the Department of Defense on the Joint Staff, at U.S. Northern Command and aboard a USN destroyer.
