Megan Gates of Security Management magazine, writes about the importance of resilience, given the increased probability of a catastrophic cyber incident with far-reaching global ramifications. Some experts predict such an incident will occur before 2025.
Gates asked Chertoff Group cybersecurity expert and managing director David London to share his insights on the global cyber risk. The Chertoff Group works with clients to address physical and cybersecurity resilience. Part of that work includes communicating to clients the unique risk Russian threat actors pose to corporate and critical infrastructure systems due to their sophisticated abilities.
We’ve seen that through one of the first successful cybersecurity attacks with physical consequences through the Russian attacks on the Ukrainian electric grid, London said. It caused blackouts and issues with industrial control systems. [Russia] has the ability to cause this impact.
